Alea Play: Implementing a Modern Data Stack for SaaS Gaming

Formerly part of a larger gaming group, Alea Play needed a new data stack that would allow them to have a global view of all their casinos, integrators, software and players around the world. They required a dedicated data team to lead and develop this analytics project.

A Modern Data Stack With A Dedicated Data Team

Spaulding Ridge assumed the role of Alea Play’s extended data team, taking charge of the design and implementation of their new data stack.

The company was dealing with thousands of transactions on a daily basis and required a data platform that would give all teams in the organization – Sales, Account Managers, IT and Finance – access to reliable company information to carry out their day-to-day activities.

Using Stitch, we were able to integrate system data, currency data and GSheets reports without having to build connectors and with limited acquisition costs. Snowflake’s Snowpipe allowed us to automate the ingestion and transformation process of transaction data stored in S3 in near real time. Finally, with Looker, we were able to unify business logic and metric definitions, as well as give users easy access to data exploration, fulfilling their Self-Service Report Building objective.

Our project methodology allowed users to see results within weeks, as well as have access to continued support for ad-hoc data requests. Working with Spaulding Ridge not only helped Alea Play save time and money, but also allowed them to accelerate the transition process and eradicate any bottlenecks that were slowing down their growth.
